InformationWelcome to the 2011 season for The Clyde Riding Club. Thank you to everyone who attended the AGM and for all of the input and suggestions. We have a good and enthusiastic committee for this season with lots of great ideas and input so looking forward to another great season. Following lengthy discussions, it was decided to leave the points system unchanged for the 2011 season. More events such as the paired cross country, team games and team jumping which saw such great team atmosphere and fantastic morale and gave the riders some of the best fun they had all season will be planned for the coming season- see the calendar of events for 2011 plus extras to be arranged on field dates.
Junior classes will consist of cross poles only and if any junior competitors feel they need extra help they will be allowed to compete HC and have committee help in the ring. A guideline for maximum first round heights is listed below, these may be changed during the season at the discretion of the committee. Juniors…………30-50cm 128cm…………60cm 138cm…………70cm 148cm…………80cm Senior ponies….80cm Horses…………90cm
As is normal, any competitor who feels their height is too high may compete in any lower class ‘HC’, and progress through the heights at their own pace with all of the support and help that the Clyde always tries to deliver. Remember that there is a trophy for the most improved rider in each class so there is always something to aim for over the season. Members jumping HC still compete in their own class games
If any pony riding member feels their class is too low to match their ability they are permitted to register and compete in a higher pony class i.e up to and including 148cm. If you choose to move up a class for jumping, you also compete in that class for games. All members (except juniors and lead reins ) compete in their own height/age class on the showing day.
We always appreciate the help given on the field before, during and after the competitions and would encourage all members to take an active part in the club.
Our main source of fundraising remains the field day raffles and our sponsorship. Please support these fundraisers by buying tickets and supplying items for the raffle. We would be extremely grateful for any new sponsors you can suggest- it is becoming more difficult to get sponsorship. Contact Gail Rogan or Justin Keeper, any committee member or contact us via the website if you have any potential new sponsors we can contact. . Sponsors are also welcome to come along and present awards and also to send/bring any advertising.
Finally, the committee would like to wish you all a successful and fun season.
Helen McFarlane club President +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ There are two jumping classes and four games on open field days. The classes are divided into Lead Reins, 128's, 138's, 148's, Senior pony (riders over 16) and horses. In addition we have a showing day with Tack and Turnout and Team Games. A Cross Country Day (please come and help build the course if you are free) and a Special Trophy Jumping Day. This is all included in your membership fee, which is amazing value for money.
Day members are also welcome and if you decide to join at a later date the day membership fee will be deducted from the full membership fee.
Anyone interested in becoming a member of The Clyde Riding Club should speak to any committee member We appreciate that some people like to give their mount a canter to warm up before starting the games. With this in mind you are welcome to canter circles at the top of the field but keep to a controlled canter with no galloping or racing.
